I love this build, so glad that I stumbled onto this page instead of some other one when I was first trying Tychus out. I have been made fun of a few games for this build, as most people go straight for the overkill or nade builds with an Odin, but I don't mind because I see how often players using those builds do minimal damage. I never would have put this build together on my own (especially regen master), but reading through the guide, everything made a lot of sense.

After playing through a couple variations, I must say that I prefer Lock and Load to Executioner, as it allows me to effectively chase down those fleeing characters. That being said, if you have Malfurion and Arthas/ETC, Executioner is an obvious choice. I have also started going with Focusing Diodes instead of Nexus Frenzy, as getting range on characters isn't a problem with Lock and Load (plus the extra range doesn't help me stay alive much longer if I am getting targeted), and the Drakken Laser never seems to put in much damage without the added range and damage.

All-in-all, I wish that a lot more Tychus' on my team would read up on this guide (but let the ones on the other team keep building around overkill). Well done.

This build with Executioner at 16 is my stock Tychus, but yeah, it's certainly a bit map-dependent. So many changes in the Butcher patch seem to have been discussed to death, but almost nobody seems to be talking about the one minor tweak that completely changes this Hero.

His Basic Attack (BA) range now matches everyone else short of the snipers. Previously, Tychus was pretty much required to mix it up to get anything of consequence done, and we all know how squishy he can be in a furball. Susceptible to virtually every form of CC in the game, if you don't have an E ready to go, if the game ignores it (yeah, that's still a Thing), or if you're slow on it, you're hosed.

Now, with just a few extra pixels of range on that sweet, sweet minigun, you gain a crucial fraction of a second to get out of Dodge when pain comes a' callin'.

Now, your Q almost becomes a liability unless you completely front-load it. The trifecta of Regen / VampA / Rapid Fire makes you a jaw-dropping facetank while "everyone" still thinks "noone" is doing anything other than Q- or Nade-based Tychus builds.

And you get all this before L10.

Now you pick the Laser, and you've got Area Denial. You need a touch of icewater in your veins, but you play the Laser like a new totem. Drop it a bit behind you and it covers your escape or adds midrange artillery. The damn thing's still unfortunately a bit... suboptimal with its targeting, but you can fix that with some judicious virtuosity on your R key.

Problem Solver. Mmmmmmm... Problem Solver. Just the visual effect alone darn near accounts for my love of this talent. The glorious, beautiful sparks of high-penetration damage on enemies are like a little pixie dust of pain dancing over the surfaces of your foes. Preeeettttttyyy...

Executioner piles on the Problem Solver fun. Any significant CC from your teammates on a target, and you are the Sun through a magnifying glass on a hot day. Health bars melt like butter in Brazil.

Level 20. Nexus Frenzy. Hands down. Takes the tweak we got with the Butcher patch and dials it to 11. 20% on top of the fastest attack speed in the game and even more range. Yes, please. What's not to like?

Sure he's got tough rows to hoe, but despite what the guide says here, I'll go toe-to-toe with Johanna or KT on any globe farm. Mines, maybe not so much, but, say, Blackheart's Bay? Oh yeah. And Nova? Yes, tunnel vision is a constant hazard with this Tychus or a Q build, but a good eye for that cloak blur and judicious restraint to keep a nade ready at all times can set you up for success.

I had a lot of trouble PvP with Tychus until the range buff. But a little bit has gone a long way.

Hell, it's about damn time.

Exocutioner is great if you have jaina or arthas, but dont underestimate stone skin...with like 30 globes and vampiric assault it almost gives you a second life.

Dude, I had to come back here and vote up this guide. I never really liked Tychus cause he had a hard time soloing siege camps...his jungling on the whole was pretty weak...but after like 12 regen globes he DESTROYS siege camps. And he never has to recall back to base, ever.

I never took regeneration master before this guide...it changed my life (Oprah moment)

...and its almost a mini game to see how many globes I get one game and then try to break that record the next game...

Great Guide

I was mostly thinking of the mid-late game Illidan. In the early game, Illidan is vulnerable to Overkill and Frag Grenade. Later on, Illidan will have a much easier time against Tychus. Since Tychus relies on his long cooldown abilities, Illidan simply needs to bait out those abilities.

I honestly disagree with your assessment for Illidan as Overkill melts him into nothingness.
