This guide is my one and only guide and Naz is my one and only main for ranked. Thus it is the cumulation of alot of focus :D If your ranked #1 and see me as some noob then I probably won't disagree but I think this Naz guide explains everything needed to be the best Naz ever, the rest is practice, figuring out the optional parts of the builds, and knowing when to not pick Naz.
Hi, I'm misher and this is my first guide. I am formerly a League player and now play HOTS. I am honestly the best Naz I have ever seen, it feels like no one actually gets him and how op he is so I wrote this guide. I have climbed up rank purely on my Naz, I play other characters well but only Naz can carry my teams. I have a 81% win rate with Naz after 34 games in ranked and honestly most of the losses were cause I was still learning him with 4 of my 7 losses happening in the first 10 games.
Here's some photos to brag:
I have two main builds which I use in my games. They get adapted depending on the enemy team. The first is one I created myself and the 2nd I adapted after reading other Naz guides and seeing other players. The first is more situational for killing the weak backline.
The ultimate question for most Naz's is why not go ravenous, well I'll tell you why:
Ravenous is just not good in all situations, sure in many he can own. You got your enemy team clustered together, your wall to defend you that your summoning over it, and your team ccing them. Then its epic.
But..........this is so ****ing rare.
In the end just standing there not doing **** is risky in almost any fight, not to mention during this time you can't move, atk, or cast spells. You might thing ravenous does a ton of dmg, but your spells and auto atks do a ton as well. If your solo queuing a team isn't going to build a comp around your stand still and channel ultimate. And there's a good chance the enemy team will be able to stop it.
With gargantuan, it's there, it does something pretty much every fight, and it keeps going even if you run around a bit. It continues to deal dmg ontop of your spells+autos. It continues to deal dmg when your dead (at times). It tanks for your team, it helps kill mercs, it bloody well heals itself at base. At level 20 its cd is small enough that you usually bring one into a fight, let your enemies struggle to kill it, then pop another one right after it dies. Its autos do great dmg, its slam helps clear things, and while its not the fastest runner its fast enough to catch most. It helps keep heroes off you.
With gargantuan you can run in circles around it while melees chase you and have it atk them to death. With gargantuan you can block heroes. It's an epic ultimate and I find ravenous to be nooby. Sure ravenous has its uses. But I would say only if you have a prebuilt team that knows what its doing and the right map.
->frogs are aoe and spread out from when launched, they get closer to go around objects. Use zombs to bring giant mercs closer then get nearby when launching frogs to hit them with all 5.
->Try to always keep poison going on their entire team, it does fixed amount dmg so better to keep it going on their chars with less hp
->Zombies tank turrents and waste their shots. You can rush a zombie wall at their towers at start just to blow some ammo.
->Zombie walls block entrances, if enemies leave base you can block them from entering the gate for easy kills with it.
-> Try to always put your zombie wall behind them, if you miss it then at least it serves as a wall. If you get terrain on one side its a good wall and makes it hard for them.
-> This also applies to chokes in the map, an example is the bushes in dragon shire that lead to the altars, you can block off the opponents side when ganking so that they have to run towards your team to get out. Throw spiders and frogs too.
->Don't underestimate gargantuan, it does enormous auto atk and aoe dmg. When you get someone in zombie circle summon it for good aoe dmg, let it get an auto off, then use its slam for aoe dmg.
-> w->rqer should be your killer combo. Frogs do more dmg closer but also you die easily closer so don't worry about it too much.
-> Zombie circle can mess up those inside and mercs inside such that they "jitter" inside and find it hard to move around. I think this is from clicking outside it and the game having a hard time pathing it when your inside the wall. Mercs and heroes can be made unable to attack if you do it right.
-> Your not a tank despite your hp buff. It honestly doesn't give alot of hp, just its great for the mp. Run around the back of the battle and throw your skills, try to get a few autos in, but do your best not to get caught thats the tanks job.
-> Make sure to wander around the map don't just stick to a lane and farm minions. You can go to another lane, throw your skills, and come back and double your ritual stacks. You should always be watching minimap and ready to run to another lane to zombie wall.
->Always have gargantuan up lev 20+. Use it on mercs for good aoe dmg, a good tank for their dmg, and to have it up for fights.
->Gargantuan heals itself 20+ so if you dragon knight itll happily be waiting for you at full hp once your done and will run to you from your base.
-> Use zombie circle almost whenever its up, its great at tanking dmg or slowing the enemy team when their chasing you, farming minions when you leave your lane as it applies the poison, and at tanking dmg from mercs and other baddies.
-> Naz almost never has to go b to heal or restore mana, let your autos kill minions and the %heal take care of that. Remember while you don't get stacks off mercs or other baddies, kills of almost anything restore you.
->Time your zombies after big bosses slam so that they tank instead of all dying right after it.
Ok build 1, this is by far my favourite build although its extremely situational. As you can see this build revolves around jumping spiders. Spiders are pretty difficult to aim but not impossible, remember that they land and do dmg. They only really do their main dmg when you get jumping spiders, here you can use them to chase any enemy down.
lev 1-death ritual is a mainstay of almost all nazs. I like to get blood ritual on mines just cause you generally spend tons of mana here and the mine minions help restore that. Bribe is a possibility but its very RARE that I get it. You death ritual for mana as it makes up a third or more of your mana most games.
Basically stay in your lane and farm minions, try to spread autoatks to keep your poison going on all minions at once to farm them, try to avoid using skills on minions since your autos work fine and minions help restore mana.
Some naz's get spirit but I don't like it. Sure it does more dmg than gargantuan but it means you can't use your autos at the same time. Gargantuan helps tank, distracts the team, does aoe dmg, and meanwhile you can get busy sending autos at their teammates to keep your poison going. Basically firing on the sides of the teamfight, while gargantuan fights and tanks with them works great for a naz.
You don't have to get sprint, its very situational. I like sprint for chasing down and killing enemies, or zombie walling them. Dead Rush and Toads are both great skills too and very situationally depending on the other team I will take ice block.
Stay behind your team, throw things, zombie wall the enemies, and keep dealing dmg. Try to have gargantuan out always at 20+ so you can summon a 2nd one soon as he dies.
You can carry a team hard with this build.
Here's an example of a team I just carried with this build. I saw that the other team had 3 glassy chars (t***, sylv, jaina) and went spider build. Then had a ?rank 50? Illidan. Ended the game with equivalent hero dmg to 4 of their 5 players and believe me we were losing this game for much of it, if I had ever died after 5 minutes we would of been ****ed. God bless spider build. And getting over 6k hp at the end.
This build focuses on all your skills rather than just spiders. Which means you can die easier. You can get poison over gathering power for better 1v1 potential but honestly Naz is an aoe damager so this is rare. Skill choices are pretty obvious from my guide 1. Uprooting zombies lets you use zombies to tank towers better as they last longer. Specialized toxin doubles your poison dmg to heroes so make sure to always keep that poison on them with your autos.
Uproot zombies, toads, etc. All 4 of those are great skills and you should choose between them situationally.
It's my first guide so I'm incredibly open to suggestions. Will be closely monitoring this guide for a while so feel free to ask things or state facts, I am willing to consider suggestions, and less willing to consider outright criticism that does not offer suggestions.
I wish you luck mastering Naz, I am by no means 100% perfect at Naz but I am damn good.
