I find Shade Form to be very strong -- it may be because of the players lack of knowledge -- and you don't need Haunting Wave to clear mercenary camps. I do feel that Shade Form is situational and could be swapped out for another defensive talent, Life Drain, or a wave clear/mercenary talent, Unstable Poison.
