Introduction Top
Hey guys and girls, Heisenberg here again with the game changing support, Lt.-Morales , and after a while, you'll begin to appreciate why she is so game changing. Two words, "Drop Ship" makes this hero insanely OP. This guide will explore the many virtues and strategies you can employ with Morales to evolve your play and abuse full team mobility to your advantage. 3 Builds are included. Drop ship build, Assassin dedicated support, and a grenade build.
Stay tuned as I add more in the coming days.
Just a couple cool thoughts though rq about the
Medivac Dropship , it has a full beefy hero's HP pool worth of it's own separate health pool, which will in effect protect you AND whomever is inside of it, and will not kill the heroes inside of it if it gets shot down. The implications of this in itself are huge.
If u are being focused, spawn a drop ship and voila, you have a full health ship to protect u and your crew, even if you don't end up using it. At the very least, this buys time, at least 3 seconds and at lvl 20, the upgrade to dropship,
Medbay , will both heal everyone near it, and inside, for a significant amount of health.
Bear in mind you will regen quite fast if you stop your healing beam and wait 4s. To stop your healing beam, activate your trait and
Caduceus Reactor will commence.
A lot of new Morales players I see think the dropship is only good for one thing, but in reality, the strategies you can employ with using the dropship as a safe haven in case you are low health, or to fall back a slight bit out of enemy range, are very exciting indeed. You have quite a lot of time to take off if you need to, or let the enemy destroy it. The only caveat to the drop ship is that there is no cancel drop ship button yet. In reality, you'd be able to abort takeoff in a real medic dropship, why blizzard decided to not include a abort takeoff button is nuts.
If you take
Medivac Dropship future ambulatory specialists, always have in the back of your noggins an appropriate vac point, especially in the heat of battle. I once evac-ed my team behind an enemy gate. Don't do that, lol. Be aware of the map and evac into a bush somewhere that will hide your team when they get out.
Scouting drone BTW is broken Blizzard, it is only holding a single charge when it clearly says 2 charges.
Pros and Cons Top
Pros
Strong single target heal
Can run without heartening back after lvl 7 with the right talent, low mana consumption.
Unparalleled Team Mobility.
Prevents dmg
Has a decent Knockback if enemy gets too close.
Not too squishy
Cons
No escape mechanism besides the dropship ult
No group heal until lvl 20
No self heal unless healing beam has stopped or you've gotten the couples-therapy talent at lvl 13.
Long cool downs on shielding.
Abilities Top
(Q)
Healing Beam High volume single target heal.
(W)
Safeguard Keep this on whomever is being focused, wait to cast it until you get into combat or it will be wasted.
(E)
Displacement Grenade This is a great way to keep enemies away from your team.
ULTS
(R)
Stim Drone Awesome on auto attack heroes like
The Butcher, Illidian,
Raynor, especially
Kerrigan during
Omegastorm even on
Tassadar while in
Archon .
(R)
Medivac Dropship Game changing ult on most maps. Gives full team mobility to anywhere, even within enemy gates, every 50s. After lvl 20, and an enemy team wipe, there is nothing stopping your team from swooping in deep behind lines and taking out a core. I expect to see some amazing turnaround with this.
Caduceus Reactor A self heal that will start when you are not in battle or attacking after 4s.
Trait
Situational
Prolonged Safeguard is my choice on dedicated assassin build to start out with as it gives 1 extra second on your safeguard which comes in handy later game, especially with the added safeguard Shield Sequencer gives you.
Good
Trauma Trigger Definitely a viable choice, but the fact you can safeguard yourself already kind of makes this talent less desirable than the above, especially when you get 2 safeguards. TBH, you should be staying out of the frey as much as possible and if you are getting burst down, your team or you are likely out of position.
Good
Feedback Loop This is awesome and conserves mana, coupled with
Infused Grenade you'll virtually never run out, and I really like not having to hearth back. maps like DS or infernal shrines can come in handy. I recommend taking at least one of the mana save talents, and this one, on this tier is a great one for that.
Situational
Scouting Drone This is definitely worth it if you have a Zeratul or Nova , or even just to keep tabs on the enemy, but it is currently broken and only has one charge.
Good
Bioshield This is great and I take it often as it gives a pretty nice size shield on whomever you keep your heal on. The caveat, whenever you stop healing, or switch to someone else, it simply vanishes, instantly. To that end, it becomes a bit situational. If you have an illidian, Kerrigan , or butcher, this can be deadly for the enemy. If you want to keep your tank extra healthy, great to have prior to engagement.
Good
Advanced Block A 3 charge block, refreshing every 5 seconds means that most autos that hit you are going to be mitigated all of the time. Maybe 2 out of 5 will get through at full potency. Totally worth taking, especially with cloakers on enemy team. Highly recommend this.
Situational
Upgraded Ballistics This can be great in a DPS build, the grenade is powerful.
Good
Infused Grenade Another mana saving talent, this combined with
Feedback Loop will make it so you never run out. That can be very valuable.
Good
Clear! This is the defensive version of this tier, to knock back the enemy further in case they start gunning toward you.
Good
Irradiate This enables you to damage whomever is within the beam radius. It's fairly effective, kind of like a lvl 7 version of
Burning Rage. The cool part is you can help a lot with minion waves and mercs by getting your beam on so to speak. In that sense, it is aoe and can affect multiple targets so definitely worth taking if you can make use of it.
Situational
Calldown: MULE is great for situational maps like temple, mines, or DS.
Situational
Cleanse If you're on a pro team, you'll likely end up taking this above any other talent this tier.
LVL 10 Top
Situational
Stim Drone Fantastic for propping up high volume auto attack heroes Important you know who they are.
The Butcher,
Kerrigan,
Raynor,
Tychus, Illidian,
Thrall,
Sgt. Hammer probably in that order of priority depending on what is going on.
The Butcher at full
Fresh Meat stacks and
Stim Drone will wreak absolute havoc on forts and heroes.
Good
Medivac Dropship This is such a game changer, once people figure out that you actually need to get in it for it to make any difference. Still if not for the rest of the team, for yourself even as it gives you full map mobility, which is very unique. It also protects you and whomever is inside it with a beefy hp pool of it's own.
LVL 13 Top
At this point you need to weigh out if you are getting a lot of dmg or if your heal is not quite cutting it.
Good
Intensive Care The added volume of heal is awesome, and it really is a tossup here depending on what is going on at the moment. If you feel the enemy team burst is out damaging your heal substantially, then you'll want to take this. If your healing has been adequate there are better options at this tier.
Really Good
Couples Therapy Since we have no healing of our own unless we aren't healing others, this can be a welcome addition at this stage in the game. It's actually pretty good volume heal on you, and totally worth the 4 mana. Surely by now the enemy will have figured out that you must be focussed down, so they will make every effort to do so. This will is my usual go to choice at this tier unless I can't keep up with healing others then I would either go
Intensive Care or
Preventative Care.
Situational
Preventative Care I really like this talent above
Intensive Care for an auto-attack focused team, or
Zeratul/
Nova even hammer, because at the right time it can make more difference overall. Against a butcher at full stacks this will slow the attack down just enough to make a difference in the heal. Cast it on whomever is being focused and it will slow the primary enemy auto attack down significantly. If
Nova has chosen maelstrom-shells then her auto attack is already slowed down 250%, this can make it significantly slower and mean a huge difference in proportional heal.
Situational
Spell Shield Against double mage, or double mage and
Tassadar, this might be a way to go. I personally feel there are better choices in this tier but you never know when you are going to need it. If the whole team is taking spell shield, it might be time to take it too.
LVL 16 Top
This is really a pivotal tier and it's important that you evaluate what is going on and what your role has mainly been at this stage. If there is another healer and you are primarily propping up a single target, you might wish to go innoculation or
Shield Sequencer The benefit to
Shield Sequencer is that you can cast it also on yourself if you are being chased.
Great
innoculation If your heal just isn't keeping up on a single target like Illidian, take this. It's fantastic at mitigating heavy focus dmg. Makes a lot of sense in coordinated team play because target focus is so critical.
Good
Shield Sequencer This is great even for a single target because you can have a 6s long shield or 2x 3 second long shields depending on what is going on. You can shield yourself, and whomever.
BAD
System Shock I've used this and TBH the slow scales off too quickly. If it was 50% for 5sec, that'd be a different story but since it scales, it's not as useful a CC as you may think.
Situational
Second Opinion On most games, I either go 2 charges of shield or 2 charges of grenade. If you have a team that is continually diving for you non-stop, and you need to kB them, take this as it will keep them away from you or the backline. This can be extremely valuable and stifle them enough for tanks to get control of the situation.
LVL 20 Storm Talents Top
Situational
Transfusion If you've taken stem drone this is a viable choice, but the main component, giving yourself a swim puts you in the action where you may not want to be as a backline healer.
Really Good
Medbay If you've taken medivac-dropship then take this as it will provide massive group heals for whomever is near or inside the ship. It is your only full group heal that also heals yourself. If your in an endgame battle, about 5 secs into it, cast this to land just a few meters behind you and just sit there the whole time. It will heal everyone who gets close to it. Even if someone gets in and you have to fall back, you'v only fallen back a few meters and yet you've healed everyone for massive heal. Well worth it and is kind of like a shadow-stalk
Situational
caduceus-reactor-2.0 I usually will either take this or
Storm Shield if I've taken
Stim Drone so at this stage, think if you've been focussed down significantly, or if you want to keep your team alive more.
Situational
Storm Shield Nothing like a good ole
Storm Shield toward the end game.
